Sometimes solutions for selected programs exist but I was looking for a free program that could record any sound no matter the source it was coming from. Yes, even streaming radio poses no problem but you should note that the following free tool is not capable of recognizing the beginning and end of songs. It just records for as long as you want.

Google Alerts back in the day was a great service and while it is still available today, I have the feeling that it does not work that well anymore. So what does it do? You can create alerts for any phrase, think Windows Blue, Bearsoft or your full name, to receive alerts whenever a new item is discovered by Google's search engine. Alerts can be delivered to an email account or to an RSS reader as RSS feeds.

GreatNews is a very popular desktop rss reader that comes with all the features one would expect from a rss reader. It can import opml feeds which is a standard XML format that contains feed information. Basically any feed reader can export and import opml files. The first thing that observant users will notice is the low resource usage. A direct comparison between FeedDemon and GreatNews revealed that GreatNews was using between 10-20 Megabytes of computer memory less than FeedDemon did. (GreatNews uses about 3 Megabytes when minimized while FeedDemon uses more than 7 MB)

Create A RSS Feeds For Bing Search Result

Bing has a lot of great features under its hood that do not get advertised openly by Microsoft or the Bing Team. Did you know that it offers RSS feeds for all searches that you conduct? This works similar to Google Alerts in that it provides you with the means to get notified when a new post appears in the search results for the selected search term.

The feeds are limited to ten results by default but you can increase that by increasing the number of results shown on Bing's results page. I can't say however if second or third page results will be recognized as well when the RSS feed is updated, or if that is limited to the first ten results. It also seems that while 20, 30 or 50 results are displayed in the RSS feed on the Bing page, they may not be carried over in to the program that you are using to retrieve the feeds.
