Using Launchy Quickly Compose New Gmail Message

Date 8/3/2013
How you compose emails when you use the interface on the Google Mail website. When you wanted to compose an email, the compose interface opened up directly on the page making it difficulty to quickly open another email while composing or running a search to find a particular email that you wanted to reference. Most Gmail users probably opened the service in two tabs or two browser windows if they needed to compose and work with the interface at the same time.

Launchy is powerful, while remaining very simple to use.using Launchys  one-line command that lets you open new Gmail composition windows from anywhere. If you keep yourself logged into Gmail on a regular basis. But if you use both Gmail and Launchy on a regular basis, it's a pretty simple hack that can make Gmail feel as fast as a desktop mail app.Now follow these steps.

Open a Launchy window and click to open the options dialog (the "gear" in the upper-right corner in the default 2.0 skin). Once there, head to the "Plugins" tab and click the "Runner" plugin. If you've never touched the Runner plugin before, you should see one command shortcut there, "cmd."

Now hit the "+" button under the main box, and your cursor is placed in the "Name" box. Type in whatever word you want to type into Launchy to open a new Gmail composition—I used "compose Gmail,".But you can adapt to whatever gets you to there quickest in Launchy. Now for the secret sauce. In the "Program" field to the right of "Name," paste in this line

Leave the "Arguments" field blank.Hit "OK," and you're all set. Type in "Compose" or whatever your shortcut name was.
